30X40 Trade Show Booths: Space Built for Bigger Ambitions

A 30×40 trade show booth puts you among the largest exhibits on most show floors, and 1,200 square feet of space comes with real opportunity. But it also asks more of you as an exhibitor. The booths that work well at this size aren’t just bigger versions of smaller ones, they’re planned around a completely different scale of thinking.

At BuilderDeck, we approach every 30×40 booth design by starting with your goals for the show, not the square footage itself. Are you hosting client meetings throughout the day? Running live demos for crowds? Introducing a new product line? The answers shape everything from zoning to traffic flow, and getting this right early saves you from a space that looks impressive but doesn’t actually function well once the doors open.

If you’re weighing a 30×40 trade show booth rental against building something you’ll own long-term, we’re happy to walk through both paths with you. Renting gives you flexibility if this is your first time at this scale or if you’re testing whether it fits your exhibiting strategy. Owning tends to make more sense if you’re planning to show up this big at future events too.

Whichever direction fits, our 30×40 trade show displays are designed with the same care, clear sightlines so no section gets overlooked, staffing plans that match your layout, and materials built to hold up through setup, teardown, and repeated use.

If your next exhibition calls for a booth this size, we’d like to be part of that conversation early. The sooner we understand what you’re trying to accomplish, the better we can help you get there. Reach out, and let’s start planning something worth the space it takes up.

( FAQ ) · About 30X40 Trade Show Booths
This is our first time doing a booth this big, what should we know going in?
The main thing is that it’s not just a bigger version of a smaller booth. The planning changes completely. You’ve got room for multiple activities happening at once, so the first conversation we have is really about what you want visitors to experience, not what it should look like.
Fair question, and it depends on what you’re trying to get out of the show. If you’re planning multiple demo stations, meeting areas, and want serious visibility from a distance, it can make a lot of sense. If you’re mainly there to collect leads, we might tell you honestly that something smaller would serve you just as well.
It comes down to zoning and having a few strong focal points rather than spreading things too thin. We design around creating purposeful areas with good flow between them, so the space feels intentional, not just big.
Most exhibitors run somewhere between 10-15 people, though it really depends on how many zones are active and what’s happening in each one. We can give you a more specific number once we see your layout.
Often, yes, especially if there’s height involved or anything hanging above the booth. Every venue has its own rules, so we check your design against the specific show’s requirements before we start building anything.
Depends on your plans. If this is a one-time thing or you’re not sure you’ll exhibit this big again, renting keeps your options open. If you know you’ll be showing at this scale regularly, buying often works out better long term. Happy to run the numbers with you either way.
We’d recommend starting the conversation at least 12 weeks out, more if you’re including custom builds or tech integration. If your timeline is tighter than that, let us know right away and we’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic.
We actually want you to bring your guidelines. It gives us a clear starting point, and from there we figure out how to translate your brand into a physical space that still feels true to it.
